The project aims to reducing food waste in Madrid and the Basque Country through two strategic areas: the households and the school centres.

In the case of households, Andaira leads the research with a literature review, a qualitative behavioural study and a quantitative measurement of food waste. With these results, a campaign has been designed targeting the groups that waste the most, with the objective of achieving a reduction of 5% to 10% in food waste.

In the school environment, Roots Rights coordinates the intervention and awareness-raising campaign through an educational approach for primary and secondary schools. This includes canteen audits, training of the educational community, elaboration and implementation of reduction plans and impact measurement. The intervention will directly reach more than 5,000 people in at least six schools, with the purpose of to reduce food waste by 10% and extend good practice to up to 40 centres.
