Participatory forest management in the XIV region of Cuenca Alta del Manzanares
Between 2007 and 2008, Andaira carried out the participatory forest management of the public utility forests of the XIV Region of Madrid, promoted by the Regional Ministry of the Environment and Territorial Planning of the Community of Madrid through the Forest Plan Development Area. Once again, this is an inter-cooperation project in which Andaira, as an expert team in participation, collaborated with Agresta S, Coop. as an expert team in forest management, guaranteeing the technical solvency and interdisciplinarity necessary for a project of these characteristics.
The objective of Forest Management is to guiding planning of existing natural resources in order to secure their and sustained performance, as well as the the compatibility of its various utilities. In order to carry out territorial planning that guarantees its sustainability, it is appropriate and necessary to take into account the opinions and suggestions of its inhabitants, who are the true protagonists of its current state and also of its future.
For this reason, this participatory process was based on the convening of a series of roundtables with the following sectors: local and supra-local administrations, companies linked to the economic use of the forest, the livestock sector, the hunting sector, the beekeeping sector and the social use of the forest.
