Masterchef to educate in Equality

Consultancy / Social and educational intervention / News / Projects / 28 November

Educating for equality from childhood is a fundamental challenge to achieve an equitable distribution of work in the domestic and care sphere in order to continue moving towards a fairer society.

To meet this challenge, it is essential to innovate in educational activities and adapt to the new realities and concerns of children so that the content is better worked on and the objectives are more easily achieved.

In this methodological line, at Andaira we have developed different workshops and activities aimed at children and young people with the objective of questioning gender roles and stereotypes, The unequal distribution of domestic chores and care work, uses of time, spaces for participation... promoting an egalitarian and inclusive education.

One of the activities that we have successfully carried out in different municipalities are the workshops of Masterchef in which, following the television format, we propose to the children (sometimes accompanied by their families) a collaborative competition to prepare dishes following some recipes.
In the workshop we highlight the value of domestic and care work, We also facilitate reflection on the distribution of tasks, as well as the search for alternatives so that care and domestic work is valued and valued. distribute in a fairer and more equitable way.
