This project aims to develop a study to assess the multifactorial impacts produced by the onset of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) in family and/or chosen environments. To design and formulate proposals and strategies to improve the situation of the families of people with ACD in the provision of support and services by the Public Administrations and the entities of the ACD associative movement.

With this study, Andaira continues its research in the field of people with disabilities and their families. The needs, barriers, difficulties and obstacles they face, the agency and the way they and the entities of the disability associative movement deal with them. Our work allows us to articulate the demands that are formulated, in a clear and direct way towards the administrations, all of this based on rigorous processes of social research, which combine quantitative techniques always accompanied by qualitative techniques that give voice, body and a dose of reality to the data. Without the voice of people with disabilities and their families or chosen supports, the full extent of this reality would not be fully understood. The transition to a community-based and proximity-based model of long-term care in line with the state strategy for deinstitutionalisation and good community living cannot be realised without collecting reliable and up-to-date data and information on the reality faced by people with disabilities and their representative organisations.
