In order to achieve equality between women and men, the principle of gender equality must be projected onto the various social spheres in which inequality can be generated or perpetuated, which gives this principle a cross-cutting dimension.

Since 2008, Andaira has been developing the I Plan for equal opportunities between women and men of the Mancomunidad Vega del Guadalix for the municipalities of El Molar, Guadalix de la Sierra and Pedrezuela, in compliance with the agreement established in 2008 between the Mancomunidad de Servicios Sociales Vega del Guadalix and the Consejería de Empleo y Mujer de la Comunidad de Madrid (Dirección General de la Mujer).

The aim of the plan is to mainstreaming in all policies municipal a gender equality perspective at all levels and at all stages. The aim is to establish a local equality policy within a specific timeframe, to set in motion a work process, as well as economic and human resources, through which commitments are made to change the reality of inequality between women and men in the three municipalities.
