The figure of the “reference person”, or how to improve care for victims of gender violence
To ensure better care for women victims of gender-based violence. This is the aim of the project that Andaira, together with CSE, is developing for the Balearic Women's Institute.
The project is based on the detection of a need: that of facilitating the contact of abused women with institutions. As Nuria Sánchez, from Andaira, explains, sometimes there is “a re-victimisation of the victims, because they go through different services telling their story a thousand times, because there is no one to follow up, because the services do not coordinate or overlap with each other...”. The proposal to improve the care process is the creation of a new figure, the “...".“reference person”The new system would be like a general practitioner who centralises everything and sends you to the other specialists. “It would be like a general practitioner who centralises everything and sends you to the other specialists,” says Nuria.
Andaira and CSE are in charge of setting the professional profile the new figure (competencies, requirements, etc.) and of the design of this new service, The role, the resources it needs or with whom it has to coordinate.
This project is one of the activities of the Ariadne programme, Action for the comprehensive recovery of victims of gender-based violence and improvement of institutional coordination“ co-financed by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (FEMEA).
