From where do we look at social reality in a context of change?
At Andaira we have always structured our research processes on the basis of social reality. It is this changing nature that has always guided the method, how we look, how we measure and analyse.
We chose the methodologies that best fit the technical possibilities of the new scenario.
We are coupling the different methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative, to information collection mechanisms that do not require face-to-face action. To this end, we are strengthening our research or adjusting the design of future studies through online surveys [CAWI] and telephone surveys [CATI].
We have also adapted the implementation of qualitative techniques in ongoing fieldwork. We are carrying out individual and group dynamics such as in-depth interviews or nominal groups in on-line supports with satisfactory results.
We study the impact of the new context on various social issues.
Not only have we adapted the way we observe social phenomena, but we have also broadened our gaze of analysis to other realities that have emerged or crystallised differently in recent days.
What are the psychosocial impacts of isolation and how are they affecting different social groups? The alteration of daily routines and habitual patterns of leisure, food, physical activity, as well as other social phenomena directly linked to the new social scenario: unwanted loneliness, lack of protection against different types of violence, fear of contact and contagion, management of loss,... .
We widen our field of analysis
We also reinforce and broaden our focus of study of social realities to include what happens in virtual communities on the Internet, where a large part of the socialisation processes are currently taking place. To do this, we rely on the methodological tools provided by the virtual ethnography or netnography.
